”For me, personally, transparency has always been important. I believed strongly in delivering the bitter pill, if needed. And a concept that comes close to this from the world of Machine Learning and AI is explainability. And here something fascinates me even more. Lloyd Shapley's coalitional game theory work from the 1950s was leveraged around 2016 to create a technique called SHAP, aimed at unveiling the mystery behind a model's prediction.

I am also a strong believer in a non-zero sum game. Be it in personal life or in business, we must always play a non-zero sum game. And from the world of non-zero sum games comes another concept - Nash equilbrium, credited to John Nash, of A Beautiful Mind fame.

That inspired me to choose the name - ShapNash.

Academic Training

Kaustubh Vaghmare is a PhD. in Observational Astrophysics. He has worked with several world class telescope facilities and written data reduction pipelines in Python. His key thesis dealt with applications of statistical techniques to unravel the origins of a specific class of galaxies in the Universe.

Post Ph.D Academic Career

Kaustubh Vaghmare wore several hats during this phase. He applied AI/ML to astronomical images and spectra. He investigated NLP techniques to accelerate solution finding to observational facilities. He build databases using astronomical standards, created web applications to enable access to these databases and leveraged modern software approaches to achieve the same.

Industry Chapter 1 - End to End ML Solutions

In his first few years in industrial data science, Kaustubh created end to end solutions applying ML to problems in variety of domains such as cybersecurity, privileged access management, B2B marketplaces and more.

Industry Chapter 2 - MLOps

With a natural background in deploying applications and managing infrastructure, the intersection of data science and operations was natural for Kaustubh. He consulted on designing of MLOps solutions and even providing consultancy and assessment on data science processes.

Industry Chapter 3 - GenAI

Kaustubh pivoted according to industrial demand towards GenAI. He was among the first in the group to delivery a production grade GenAI solution leveraging technologies such as Agentic RAG and implementing observability tools much before they became relative common knowledge.
